Life is a lot like jazz...it's best when you improvise.

JAZZ ICONS IS THE DEFINITE SERIES ABOUT THE MOST ICONIC JAZZ CLUBS IN VIBRANT MUSIC CITIES THROUGH THE LENSE OF JAZZ INSPIRED CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS

Jazz was always tradition and avantgarde at the same time and shaped today‘s pop culture. Jazz gave birth to iconic and influential artists like Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald or John Coltrane and inspired today‘s contemporary superstar artists like Adele and Mark Ronson but also a new breed of Urban and Electronic artists such as Kendrick Lamar or the Brainfeeder Collective around Flying Lotus. Kendrick Lamar released with To Pimp A Butterfly a ground breaking Jazz influenced album that paved the way for a new wave of critically acclaimed and successful Jazz artists such as Kamasi Washington or Thundercat and an exciting new talent out of London.

Iconic Jazz Clubs such as Ronnie Scott’s in London, Birdland in New York or The Blue Note in Tokyo shaped artists like Miles Davis or Herbie Hancock. We tell the stories of five influential clubs against the backdrop of the respective vibrant music cities through the eyes of today’s Jazz inspired musicians such as producer Mark Ronson, R’n’B Queen Erykah Badu and Hip Hop superstar Kendrick Lamar. Each episode will be crowned by an eclectic live show in the iconic Jazz club curated by the presenting artists
