Stefanie Berk serves as the Executive Vice President of Scripted Programming and Development for FremantleMedia North America (FMNA). Berk was responsible for bringing American Gods to the company, the hit show that airs on STARZ and is based on Neil Gaiman’s award-winning novel. With Berk serving as an executive producer, American Gods premiered to more than five million viewers and was the No. 1 launch on STARZ in its inaugural season. The deity-driven, critically acclaimed original series is currently greenlit for a second season on STARZ.
In addition to American Gods, Berk is an executive producer on FMNA’s upcoming scripted political thriller, The Breach: Inside the Impeachment of Bill Clinton, which will air on HISTORY. Berk also served as one of FMNA’s executive producers on the critically acclaimed The Returned on A&E, an adaptation of the International Emmy-award winning French series, Le Revenants.
Berk joined FMNA in June 2013 from Playtone, where she was Head of Development since 2011. In this role, she developed and managed all TV and film projects for company partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. Prior to Playtone, Berk was an assistant to director Baz Luhrmann.
Berk is a graduate of Columbia University, Graduate Film Division, where she received an MFA in Film Writing/Directing/Producing and University of California, Berkeley, where she received a BA in Rhetoric/Film Theory.
