Sally Rooney

Sally Rooney is an Irish author from Dublin, Ireland. She gained popularity after the release of her debut novel, ‘Conversations with Friends’ which was followed by her second novel, ‘Normal People’ which was made into the critically acclaimed series for BBC & Hulu.

Rooney was born in Castlebar and she later studied English at Trinity College Dublin where she was elected a scholar. She went on to also earn her Master’s degree in American Literature. Before becoming a writer, Rooney worked in an administrative role at a restaurant and has also been a top speaker at the European University Debating Championships. Apart from her two novels, Rooney has also released six short fiction books, a poetry book and an essay, which was featured in The Dublin Review. Rooney has won a Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year, Irish Book Awards Novel of the Year for Normal People and a Costa Book Award for Normal People.
