Rocketing in: Red Bull Italy with female-led ownership

Launched at the start of the 2025 season, the Red Bull Italy SailGP Team has rapidly established itself as the league’s most high-profile newcomer. Guided by Olympic gold medallist Ruggero Tita and powered by deep-pocketed celebrity owners, the team is making waves both on and off the water.

The Team

  • Driver: Ruggero Tita, double Olympic medallist and veteran of Luna Rossa’s America’s Cup campaign, was confirmed as helmsman in November 2024.

  • Crew: A blend of seasoned tacticians and fresh talent, featuring ex-Australian wing trimmer Kyle Langford—who defected from Australia to Italy in early 2025.

The Owners & Management

  • Ownership Group: Led by Assia Grazioli‑Venier’s Muse Capital, this is SailGP’s first female-led ownership team. Co-owners include Oscar-winner Anne Hathaway, influencer Miriam Leone, F1-aligned entrepreneur Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, and Jimmy Spithill, who functions as CEO and co-owner.

The Partners

  • Title Sponsor – Red Bull: A force in motorsport and extreme sports, Red Bull brings branding, media acumen, and a youthful, performance-driven identity.

  • Broadcast Partner – Sky Italia: Ensures strong local coverage of all races, including live coverage of the home Grand Prix in Taranto.

Key Facts

“Female-led ownership breaks mold”

Muse Capital’s lead and Anne Hathaway’s backing make Italy’s SailGP debut a landmark in inclusive leadership and media-driven investment.

“Star helmsman snatches top talent”

Ruggero Tita’s arrival—and the acquisition of Kyle Langford from Australia—signals serious ambition: this team’s built to compete immediately.

“Home waters ahead in Taranto”

Italy hosted its inaugural Grand Prix on 6–7 September 2025 at Taranto, setting the stage for a homecoming celebration backed by national pride.

The Lowdown

  • Performance: Entering the league in November 2024, Italy has already integrated into the mid-pack—currently sitting around 11th place in the season standings.

  • Identity: The team marries Italian flair (Made in Italy ethos), Red Bull’s daredevil branding, Hollywood glamour, and elite sailing pedigree.

  • Growth Direction: With Tita’s leadership, high-profile crew moves, and a major home event in Taranto, Italy is positioned for rapid ascent through consistent performance and engaged fan experience.

Bottom Line: Red Bull Italy is a startup on fast-forward—backed by celebrity investors, steered by Olympic success, and structured for media impact. Their debut season is as much about bold narratives as it is about race results. Expect a national celebration in Taranto and further momentum across the 2025 calendar.
