"Journalists need to be warriors, not just for the truth" - Ann Curry

Journalist Ann Curry has reported from conflict zones across the world – including Somalia, Kosovo, Iraq and Syria. At websummit she discussed frontline reporting, harnessing the power of true stories, and creating a future for journalistic excellence in the face of a broken business model and eroding trust.

Our ignorance comes back to bite us. Recognizing what people need to know and not just what they want to know - that is the role of a journalist. The most important thing in journalism is having integrity and stand up for a story.

One of the things is have hubris. How do you hear the truth. The act of journalism is to take down your own preconceived notions and really listen.

Curiosity is a given, integrity is one of the most important things journalists should have.
